Carol Whalen Art Studio is a safe, relaxed, and creative environment where students learn at their own pace. I will guide students toward developing artistic and perceptual skills in drawing, painting, and, or mixed media while staying open to their personal style, vision, and voice.
WORKSHOPS BY REQUEST:
PAINT PARTY - Invite your fun-loving friends, bring your favorite beverage, and enjoy step-by-step instruction to create your very own unique acrylic painting. Even if you've never painted before, you will have tons of fun and maybe pick up a new hobby!
WATERCOLOR NOTECARDS - If the idea of painting with watercolor intrigues you, this workshop is a great opportunity to explore various ways of enjoying this medium while having fun with your friends.
MOSAICS - If you are all about reusing and upcycling, this workshop is for you. Options are birdbaths, tabletops, trivets, garden stones, and whatever else you can imagine. Turn your own broken/collected treasures into something new.
PRAYER / MEDITATION BEADS - Here is an opportunity to enjoy being creative and feed your spirit as well. Prayer / Meditation beads can be made for any intention, issue, or person of particular importance to you.
PLEIN AIR OIL PAINTING - Painting in nature is a wonderful experience that can initially feel a bit overwhelming. This workshop will help with simplifying the process of painting outdoors as well as introduce participants to oil painting.
DRAWING, PAINTING, and MIXED MEDIA CLASSES:
For Teens and Adults, no experience is required. Classes are ongoing.
Whether you just want to explore your creativity and expressive abilities, have a desire for a thorough command of the formal elements of art, or both, I am happy to have you join my class.
As a teacher, my primary ambition is to share my love of art with my students. I accomplish this by teaching good skills, and, more importantly, by helping each student feel confidence and joy in expressing themselves through creating art.
