General Supplies List

Students are responsible for their own drawing and painting supplies. I will supply beginner sketching, drawing, and canvas paper; they are not the quality grade materials that students will want to use when they are beyond the beginner stage.

            Wire-bound Sketchbook, 7 x 9 or larger.

Graphite pencils:  HB, 2B, 4B, and 6B, any brand except Artist Loft - you will be disappointed with the results.

            Kneaded eraser.

Charcoal pencils:  HB, 2B, 4B, and 6B, Generals or other brand.

Colored pencils:  A set of 24 or more Prismacolor colored pencils is recommended. These are artist grade, and replacement pencils can be purchased individually.

            Pink pearl eraser.

            Colored pencils:  Any brand.

Pan style set of watercolors:  It is helpful when the cover has small tray spaces to mix colors.

            Watercolor pad, at least 9” x 12”.

            Assorted paintbrushes.

            Pastel pencils:  CarbOthello Pastel pencils.

Pastel sticks:  Soft pastel sticks, such as Faber-Castel. Do not get chalk pastel.

Oil pastels:  Cray-pas, their artists’ brand or other.

*  These are materials students will want to acquire over time, as they progress. I have some supplies available the students may use in the beginning. After a few classes, the student should bring Prismacolor colored pencils and a set of pan style watercolors.  As they progress, students move on to other mediums, including CarbOthello pastel pencils, acrylics, and water-soluble oil paints.

**  Good quality drawing and watercolor paper can be purchased from me for a small fee. I also stock some canvas panels for the painters. The supplies charge will be due at the beginning of the next class. If you don’t want your child purchasing supplies, be sure to let me know.
